This workshop explores the parameters of bullying existent within schools today. It helps you to identify how even those who have the power to control and put an end to it sustain bullying behaviors. It helps you identify loaded words that display attitudes and values of disrespect, abuse and violence. It will help you decide upon a direction for addressing issues of abuse and violence within your life experience.

Living without Violence 2: Constitutes a series of workshops for women who have realized that they need to change their way of relating with others in order to achieve a more prosperous and happy life. This may be helpful for women who have suffered childhood sexual abuse, relationship or martial abuse and violence, or family abuse and violence. It could also help those experiencing disrespect, abuse and violence at work. Designed to make you feel safe, powerful and in charge of your own life.

Facilitator, Mentor & Counsellor

Jan T. Britten is a New Zealander of multiethnic heritage including Norwegian, English, Irish, Maori and five different Faith beliefs. Jan is an expert in Diversity Education, Counselling & Adult Mentoring. Jan started her career as a teacher and has spent the last 7 years working in the field of bullying cessation within schools with a focus on the cultural environment of schools and the systems that enable bullying by students and adults.

Previous work:

After leaving teaching in 1985 I firstly worked as a Community Activist specializing in assisting women throughout NZ to set up agencies to work in the field of Family Violence and Sexual Abuse cessation. Then I worked as the National Educator & Trainer for the National Collective of Independent Women’s Refuges. I also worked alongside of Rape Crisis Inc in four different districts and completed their training. In the 1980s I was a member of the Family Violence Prevention Co-coordinating Council and Regional Co-ordinator for the Council for Training and Education in the Social Services. In the 1990s I facilitated Leadership Training courses in India, Hong Kong and Thailand for people of the Asia-Pacific region.

As a result of travels throughout NZ, Australia and Asia I have a wide perspective on the lives of peoples immigrating to NZ and of New Zealanders themselves.

Personally, I have experienced racism, family violence, marital abuse, the sexual abuse of a child and loss of loved ones. These were bitter experiences: the grieving and the healing process was a lonely one therefore I have an understanding and empathy with personal pain.

It is my pleasure to assist and support you free of charge on-line. Fees negotiable for face-to-face seminars, workshops, mentoring, advocacy and counselling.

PRIVATE COUNSELING FOR:

mental health and well-being, post-traumatic stress syndrome, personal direction and goal setting, recovery and healing after crisis, self-exploration, sexuality, relationships, child sexual abuse, adult issues with childhood experiences.
